Supporting garment workers through Covid-19

During the Covid-19 pandemic we have been supporting our partner factory in India through profits from our sales. So far we have been able to donate 84 days worth of salary from the sale of our scarves and face masks, where all profits go directly to our factory.

Over the last few months we have been selling our new organic cotton hand printed scarves as a way to raise funds for our Indian factory called Jacobs Well, which is based in Bangalore. Due to the lockdown the factory has had to close, which means that the team are unable to work. Despite having re-opened for a while, they are closed again due to another lockdown, as cases of Covid-19 continue to rise.

All profits from the sales of our scarves have been donated to Jacobs Well to help pay the employees salaries during the Covid-19 crisis. Each scarf purchased provides an employee with 2 day's salary, enabling them to pay their rent and buy food sufficient for themselves and their extended family.

One of the workers, Ammu recently said that the money she has received so far had been the only lifeline for all of her extended family.  Her husband, sister's family of four and her brother are all out of work, and they also support their ailing grandparents.

We also received these words of thanks...

"This is an amazing. Thank you so much for this most generous gift. This will make a huge difference to the women. The whole family will benefit as no one is allowed to work as there are no handouts or savings for the poor to depend on."

We have added face masks to our accessories collection in response to face masks now being required in the UK, for use on public transport and soon in shops too. We have used up some of our excess fabric to make washable and reusable face masks and are donating all profits from sales to our factory. For every 2 face masks sold we are able to provide a days salary for one of the workers.

Thank you so much if you have already bought a scarf, face mask, or item of clothing, it has made a real difference to our team in India.  We've been able to donate 84 days worth of salary so far, via Jacobs Well's crowdfunding site, let’s continue to make a difference.
